Each room includes a large-screen TV, tea and coffee facilities, and private bathrooms with bathtubs or showers. Additional accommodations are available in Crab Hall, a Georgian townhouse with eight four-poster bed rooms.

Heritage Kitchen Dining

The onsite Heritage Kitchen restaurant serves breakfast with options including full English, eggs prepared multiple ways, smoked salmon, and omelettes. Lunch and dinner feature seasonal dishes using locally sourced meat, fish, and vegetables. The restaurant operates Tuesday through Saturday, with a bar/lounge available for drinks. Sunday lunch is served from 12pm to 3pm.

Walking and Cycling Base

The hotel provides an Expedition Room with bike storage, tools, and drying facilities for outdoor gear. Guests can access the Cleveland Way coastal path, Cinder Track to Scarborough, and Esk Valley walking routes. The property features an outside table and chairs, and the North York Moors National Park begins at the hotel's edge.

Central Whitby Location

Bagdale Hall is in central Whitby, 0.5 km from Whitby Beach and 1 km from Whitby Abbey. The hotel sits near Pannett Park, Whitby Museum, and the Whalebone Arch. It is 500 meters from both rail and bus stations, with direct train service from Middlesbrough and Scarborough. Private car parking is available on-site.

Practical Guest Services

The hotel offers dry cleaning, laundry facilities, and complimentary toiletries. Tea or coffee is provided on arrival. Room upgrades and wine bottles are available on a first-come basis. The property includes a bar/lounge and maintains its original Tudor fireplaces and architectural features throughout common areas.

“This Tudor manor provides a genuine sense of history, enhanced by its staff's knowledge of local lore. Just a short walk from Whitby Harbour, the location allows for easy exploration, and the Tudor architecture creates a very unique historical experience. I think the complimentary breakfast and available parking are definite pluses for any traveler.”

the breakfast selection was very good. i appreciated the quality tea and coffee. the staff were helpful and friendly. the central location was also a bonus.
I found a hair in the bath. It was unhygienic. the tv was a basic model, and it only had freeview channels. i expected more tv options. limited parking was available. It made going out by car difficult.

amazing historical stay!

great location wide range friendly staff
the location was superb! breakfast was a real treat with a wide range of delicious choices. i also found the staff to be friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile.
i did encounter a minor inconvenience ! the parking was somewhat limited, so securing a space sometimes required patience. this meant i hesitated to drive anywhere after finding a spot for fear of losing it, that was not ideal.

Acceptable Hotel Stay

great location good setting friendly staff hot water loose handle dusty woodwork
The hotel had a location close to the center. The bedroom I had was spacious. Breakfasts were very good and the staff were friendly.
The hot water tap in the room was too hot. I could not put my hands under it. The door handle on the bathroom door was loose and the knob fell off. There was dust on the woodwork on the stair treads.
